As Android has grown, it has turned up in pretty much every market niche imaginable, including 'beginner' up to and including super-powered smartphones. Let's have a gander at the coolest Android phones on the market in each segment.
Sony Ericsson X10 Mini
Let's start by taking a look at a handset for customers who would like a smartphone, but who hate the idea of a oversized handset or a phone that costs a lot to buy: the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini. As you can guess from the handset's name, the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini is a shrunken iteration of the Xperia X10. They have taken all the good stuff from the X10, and squeezed those features down to fit into a new shell which makes the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini, considering it is a smartphone, incredibly small. And so, for people who need a smartphone that's little enough to squeeze into the most restricted pockets, the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini is the phone to go for.
HTC Wildfire
Android is trying to dominate the mid-range, as well, and its new home is the beautiful HTC Wildfire. This handset comes with all the good features that made its older predecessor (the HTC Desire) good, but puts all those good bits in a smaller, less expensive frame, that remains both slick and sexy. Of course, being put in this mid-range shell means that the HTC Wildfire hasn't got the 1GHz chipset of the Desire, but it still performs beautifully. It also comes with the Sense UI, built into the HTC Wildfire, again like its larger brother. Based around that reasoning, if you need a smartphone that is close to the Desire in terms of specs, but which costs a lot less, then the HTC Wildfire is the one to go for.
Samsung Galaxy S
So, there's the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini with its tiny frame, and then there is the HTC Wildfire, the mid-range sibling to the HTC Desire. And finally you've got the the powerhouse, the Samsung Galaxy S, which also has the biggest display on this list. Coming in at a massive 4 inches, it is quite frankly immense, and the WVGA, 800x480 resolution means that it is genuinely easy to use things such as scrollbars in menus. On top of the underlying operating system, the front end that you interact with built around Samsung's TouchWiz UI. It is truly easy to use, and although it's not as powerful as HTC's Sense UI, it ( in addition to the lightning fast 1GHz Hummingbird CPU) is the main reason why the Samsung Galaxy S is such a wonderful phone to use as your everyday phone. Of course, it isn't solely about raw power, a handset has got to have worthwhile features and the Samsung Galaxy S has a wealth of cool features, from the 5 megapixel camera, through GPS, to super speedy HSDPA data access ( and Google's incredible WebKit browser), which is why a lot people say that this is one of the most impressive smartphones they've ever seen.
