Googles new G1 Phone, manufactured exclusively by T-mobile is the latest must have gadget. The reviews for the product have been overwhelmingly good and customers are not complaining either.
The G1 phone utilizes the newly developed Android operating system, the first android phone of its kind which is set to be an open platform for future phones and has a load of user friendly customisation options. It comes bundled with all the usual apps such as GPS, Google Maps and also a great addition is Google street view. The built in QWERTY keyboard allows for further internet use with apps such as You Tube. It is manufactured exclusively by T-mobile but you can buy them at all good stores. The best deal found was for $129.99 on $39.99month 1000mins contract from LetsTalk.com who provide free shipping and immediate dispatch. To purchase it on PAYG is not recommended being as the contract includes your free data usage.
The street view features are an exiting selling point for the G phone. You have a full screen, 360 degree view - simply by moving your phone around. Street view on a 360 view on a phone is a great advance for Google and makes the G1 phone more attractive overall.
The G1 phone was originally released with a 1GB data usage limit but T-mobile has backed down to allow unlimited data usage so you can rest easy playing with all the features you can find.
Features include:-*Android *Touch Screen *Fast internet ready connection *3G *3MP camera *Trackball *WiFi + Bluetooth *IM AIM, Google Talk, Windows Live (MSN), and Yahoo friendly *G1 Browser *Music Player *Speakerphone *speed dial *quad-band world phone
The keyboard is very similar to the one on the sidekick slide. The keys feel a little small as you would expect but there is plenty of space between the keys and it feels sturdy. There is also support for third party keyboards
The music player is standard and looks good. The interface is nice and looks nice combined with album art which can be displayed in list form. It does have a custom jack socket so you would need an adapter to use your own headphones, but this is only looking for fault really.
The G1 phone is slick, stylish multifunctional and is living up to the hype. The street view, quad band, internet applications and all new operating system with G browser make it an unrivalled package and an exiting and useful gadget to own. You can surely expect many more G phones to come in the future and the Android operating system has made a good start in becoming a platform for future developers.
