Android App Developer Tips: Do's And Don'ts In Making Android Apps

Android App Developer Tips: Do's And Don'ts In Making Android Apps

€ DO keep the user in mind when designing your app. Many an android app developer has made the mistake of developing an app based solely on what they think should work and not thinking how other people will actually use it in real life. And the funny thing is, it's not that hard to find out how the end user feels. You can conduct surveys for example, do some beta testing or get your app evaluated by an app review blog.

€ DO incorporate scalability and integration in your app. Extensibility should always be taken into consideration in your app's design, especially if you are making the first version. Sadly, this is often overlooked as many mobile apps today are developed under a brief time period in order to take advantage of a current need or trend. But without scalability, this could lead to a lot of re-configuring once a new version or functionality is released.

€ DO be ca reful in making color choices. Android phones today are capable of displaying a wide spectrum of colors, but this does not mean you should choose any color for your app. Keep in mind that Android phones are design to be used almost anywhere, so your app's design should incorporate colors that work in environments with various lighting and displays.

€ DON'T stick with just a single screen size. The Android platform can be found in different kinds of mobile devices, so by designing your app around a specific screen size will not properly scale in other screen sizes. So make sure to give some thought on how your app will look as it grows or shrinks on different Android devices.

€ DON'T design around a specific form factor. An Android app developer that designs an app that's specific to a touchscreen device, for instance, will have a hard time integrating it to Android phones that use navigation controls instead of a touchscreen. Visualize how your app will work across different Android devices and make sure to leave room for other form factors.

€ DON'T do too much. Forget about trying to make your app do everything. Instead, focus on specific uses and match that with an intuitive user interface. There are a lot of success stories in the Android app developer community of apps with a narrow focus. And they succeed because they are good at doing that one thing.

GPS Vs MP4 Player Vs Android Tablet: Choose The Right Tech Gadget

Folks have constantly been interested in technology and this obsession is manifested in the way people make quite a stir when a new tech gadget comes out in the market. Just glance at the number of gadget review web sites, forums and online stores all devoted to tech gadgets and identical products.

Gone are the days when a gadget or gizmo is capable of performing one and only one sort of function. Tech devices today are packed with multiple functions and features, many of which cross over or share functions with other contraptions. So that the question that may arise would be : The best way to select the right tech widget for the job.

Preferred Tech Gadgets with Cross Over Functions

These are three popular tech gadgets that have multiple functions that are similar with each other.

* GPS or worldwide Positioning System tech gadgets have GPS tracking or receiving as its core function and almost all of its programming are de sign specially for using GPS signals to plot directions on a graphical route map from one location to another. But many GPS units are also built with additional features like media players that may play music or movie files, a television tuner, a radio tuner, GSM and Wi-Fi connectivity for Internet access.

* MP4 Player - MP4 or what's more technically called MPEG-4 Part 14 is a multimedia standard for digital video and digital audio as set by the MPEG or Moving Picture pros Group. MP4 Players are specially built to play multimedia and video files in the MP4 formats as well as audio files in the MP3 format. Though a media player is its main function, many MP4 players are also provided with additional features like GPS, Wi-Fi, TV, Digital TV, games and a camera.

* Android Tablet - tablets are smaller versions of the laptop computer but are built as a slate or tablet with a touchscreen instead of a keyboard. An Android tablet makes use of the Android O . S from Google and is a full PC in itself but is designed principally for reading content in the web. As a complete computer, Android tablets can also do other stuff like a multimedia player, gaming, GPS tracking and a camera.

Comparing a GPS with an MP4 Player and an Android Tablet

There are good points and bad points when using tech gadgets like GPS Units, MP4 Players and Android tablets. Each has their own advantages but these gadgets should be used only when it is acceptable and when the situation calls for it.

Just take as an example the difference in screen sizes among these widgets. Slates have 7 to 10-inch screens which are a lot larger than other contraptions and are ideal to use for web browsing. GPS units have a good range of screen sizes from the tiny 3-inch screens of tiny transportable GPS receivers to the larger 7-inch models used usually within autos. However , the smaller sizes of these screens aren't as handy to use a s tablets when browsing the internet. MP4 players on the other have even much smaller displays that it'd be unrealistic to use for reading the web.

MP4 Players cost the least among these gadgets and would be priced less than one hundred dollars. This is a better price than GPS receivers and Android tablets which can get anywhere from below $100 to as high as $500 or maybe more depending on the brand, inclusive features and accessories.

Battery life is another area of comparison between these widgets. Due to their multiple functions, these widgets drain their batteries much faster but the smaller MP4 players consume battery juice the least. Battery life is significant especially for GPS units like folk, especially hunters or hikers, certainly don't want to get stuck in the wilderness due to batteries conking out.

Regardless of the multiple functionalities these devices offer, there are certain disadvantages and issues each of these contr aptions have. MP4 players have the least function among the three and couldn't be used as a communication device . GPS units are far more complicated to utilise and is conditional on the effectiveness of the installed software, otherwise not all further features would function correctly. Tablets on the other hand often have poor battery charge lifespan and its limited computing power would lead to slow processors and shut down making it even more tricky to use.

As for users, tablets are favoured by folks who require full computing power but in a swish and cartable package which they can carry around anywhere they're going. GPS units on the other hand are needed by people who require help with coordinates, positioning and directions. MP4 players on the other hand are utilised by people that are engaged in certain activities that call for a smaller contraption. In these kind of activities like hiking or jogging, it'd be unrealistic to use tablets instead.
Tech widgets are actually remarkable and this is clear with the multi-functionality of each of these devices that generally cross to another. This makes it tricky to select which of these widgets would be right for a selected job. Each of these gadgets has weaknesses and strengths, but a widget that's considered puny in one area may be quite capable in another. The key thing here is to spot these strengths so you will know what particular tech device would be applicable for each particular need.

Android, Catch the Wave of the Future!

Android isn't just for cellphones anymore. Which means that there will come a day when Android is more important than the iPhone, more important than Windows, and more important than any one device.

Android is an open source operating system created by Google for primary use on smartphones, and is currently in use on many cellphones such as the Motorola Droid, the HTC Droid Eris, the HTC Hero, the HTC Desire, the MyTouch 3G Slide, and the Dell Streak.

Recently there's been a developer release of the Android operating system for use on the x86 archictecture, which will eventually allow Android to be ported to tablets, netbooks and even onto laptops and desktops, as well as onto many other devices, such as set-top boxes, video game systems, home control systems and other things not even thought of yet.

Android is written in Java on a modified version of the Linux kernel. Because of its open architecture, it's easy for developers to build applications to run on the Android operating system. Unlike the Apple closed architecture, with its draconian gatekeepers, anyone capable of coding can write an application to run on Android. And if Google's rules are followed, that application will be made available to all Android users.

What that means to you is that if you want your cellphone to do something it doesn't currently do, and there isn't an Android application that does it, you have the ability to contract with a developer to have an application built that will allow your cellphone to do exactly what you want, though there are also developer groups who, if the idea is a great one, may take your project on in exchange for the ability to put their name on it and offer servicing and customization of that application, which is the way open source works. The sky is the limit!

As of this writing there are approximately two Android phones activated per second. Because Android is offered on so many great phones, with many new ones to be launched soon, it won't be long before Android phones hold a greater market share than any other operating system on any other phone, including the iPhone, especially since the Android 2.2 Froyo release supports Adobe Flash, a sticking point with the iPhone and other cellphones. Android 2.2 Froyo is right now being rolled out to the Nexus One, and will soon be available for most other Android phones.

What is the Android Market?

A Guide To The Android Market

Android Market is Google's answer to Apple's App Store, allowing for an organized listing and easy way to download applications made for the specific phone operating system. With the release of the Nexus One, phones with Google's Android OS are expected to greatly expand and with new users will come a new hunger for applications. Google has stated from the start that the vision for Android Market is not only for users but as a way to attract developers. Such was the reasoning in choosing the term "market" over "store." Android Market is not so much a store run by Google but a market made to bring together app developers and Android OS phone users.

History of Android Market

The first announcement of the coming ofAndroid Market was on August 28, 2008 and it was made available as a beta version on two months later on October 22, 2008. Android Market began by offering only free applications during beta testing with the full purchase system being implemented in the U.S. and U.K. in February of 2009. Once month later, in March of 2009, 2,300 applications were available to users.

By the end of 2009, the applications available on Android Market had grown to over 20,000. This number put it ahead of Windows Mobile Market but still far behind the iPhone App Store at 100,000 applications. Even though Android Market falls short compared to the App Store, proponents are quick note that they reached the 20,000 mark much faster than the App Store. These same proponents also say that many of the App Store's 100,000 applications are only duplicates of already existing applications and they serve only to make it more difficult to wade through for the average consumer.

Android Market Developers

In the beginning, only developers located in the U.S. and the U.K. were allowed to publish applications that carried a price tag. In April of 2009, Google announced plans to allow developers in Austria, France, Germany, Netherlands, and Spain to publish their priced Android apps and, making good on their word, soon afterward these countries had the ability to expand Android Market with their applications. Soon afterward, Japanese and Italian developers were added to the list. Australia, strangely, is absent from the list of countries that are allowed to publish priced applications and there has been much speculation about the reasoning behind this decision. As of today, the reasons why Australia has not been added remain a secret. Android app developers, no matter the country, do have one advantage over iPhone app developers and that is the fact that distribution of Android apps is not limited to Android Market. iPhone apps can only be distributed and purchased through App Store, but Google allows Android Apps to be distributed from any source, so many developers make Android apps available on their own website or on secondary Android application websites.

User Availability

Android Market is available to users in several countries around the world. The list of open Android Market countries includes:

Australia Austria France Germany Italy Netherlands New Zealand Spain United Kingdom United States Japan Android Market Devices

Some of the devices that use the Android OS and have Android Market available are:

Acer Liquid A1 Archos 5 Internet Tablet Barnes & Noble Nook Dell Mini 3i HTC€ Dream, Magic, Desire, Hero, and Tattoo Google Nexus One T-Mobile Pulse Lenovo OPhone LG Eve Motorola Droid Samsung € Behold II, Galaxy, Moment Tethering Applications

One controversy sparked by Android Market is the availability of applications that allow tethering of mobile devices to laptop or desktop computers. Tethering is a means by which a mobile device acts as a modem to provide internet access to a "tethered" computer. This type of internet access undercuts the separate internet service available to customers and tethering a mobile device in such a way is in direct violation of the T-Mobile user agreement. As a result, Google initially pulled all tethering applications off of Android Market. Later, however, they were restored to all other carriers exceptT-Mobile.

SAN FRANCISCO€Google's Android Market, which recently passed the 200,000-application milestone, received a handful of features geared toward improving the user experience.

The Android Market isn't terrible, but it's certainly been lacking some of the glossy polish that mobile app dell vostro 1500 batteryusers have come to associate from consuming apps through Apple's App Store, which has over 300,000 apps.

Google has also been efforting to improve app payment coverage and adding things like app usage analytics and in-application and carrier billing. All of these little things add up to a bigger, better user experience, the logic goes.

To that end, Android Market officials at Google I/O here May 11 said they refreshed its top app charts to target specific countries. The Android steward, which has seen over 300 devices built on the open-source platform, also added top new free, top new paid and top grossing lists on the Android Market home page.

Google added an "editor's choice" section to the market, which it said are "some of the very best apps available for Android, as chosen by the Android Market staff," according to Android Market Product Manager Fernando Delgado.

The company also smartened up by celebrating top developers for the Android Market who have chipped in the most popular apps Dell vostro 1520 battery. Initially, the 150 top Android app developers will get a special icon where their name is shown on the Android Market Website.

There is a new trending apps section on the Android Market homepage, which signal apps that are quickly growing in daily installs.

Finally, Google is tightening up its related apps section on the left of the app page in the Market. Users will now see apps frequently browsed by people who viewed this app, and apps that people are inclined to install alongside this app.

This is a good way to expose users to new Acer aspire 5520 battery, yet similar apps that they might enjoy using. Google said the new usability features on the Android Market Webstore will be appear soon in the Android Market app on phones and tablets.

The Android Market tweaks come at a heady time for Google, which just unveiled at Google I/O that the Android Market has topped 4.5 billion downloads.

Moreover, Google also expanded the number of countries where Android customers can buy apps via the Android Market to 131, up from just 32 to date.

Apple iPad vs Android Tablets

Now that the Apple iPad is rising in sales and popularity everyday, other manufacturers want a slice of that proverbial pie, so to speak. And topping the list of iPad killer-wannabes are Google's Android Tablet, a project that is on its way to seeing store shelves in the near future and other tablet computers using Google's open-source Android platform.

So how do these Android tablet computers stack up against the Apple iPad? Let's go through the pros and cons of the current apple of Steve Jobs' eye (pardon the pun), and match the iPad up against those who wish to dethrone it.

The Pros of the Apple iPad

A stunning graphics interface, crisp video and clear visuals are all part of the iPad's package. Add to that smooth interaction between yourself and the iPad, superb touch screen sensitivity, Bluetooth, WiFi and 3G connectivity, an amazing 10-hour battery life and the simple and easy-to-use OS platform that almost everyone has come to love. A plethora of exciting games and hundreds of different applications add to the coolness factor and beauty of the Apple iPad. All the apps (and more!) that made the iPhone popular now have their iPad counterparts, guaranteeing users hours and hours of multimedia bliss and entertainment.

The Cons of the Apple iPad

It's been said before and we'll say it again: the lack of a camera and USB ports have turned off some potential buyers of the Apple iPad. Multitasking, which Mac lovers have enjoyed and loved in iMacs and Macbooks, is nonexistent in the iPad as well. There is, to date, no way to use two or more applications at the same time. It also does not support Flash with Safari (its web browser), as of the moment, making YouTube, Hulu and CBS fans very disappointed.

The Pros of Android Tablets

The main attraction of these rival tablet computers is the fact that the Android operating system is open-source. This means that coding for programs, applications and the like is available for people to use and improve on. Consequently, programmers will have a field day creating different applications, resulting in probably even more games and apps in the future for Android Tablets. Most of these tablets are also cheaper than the iPad. The Enso zenPad, for instance, is a steal at only $155. This nifty tablet features 8G (expandable to 32G) of storage, as well as WiFi connectivity. You can get GPS and 3G for an additional $25 and $35, respectively. Another Android tablet worth looking at is the Dell Streak (previously known as the Mini 5), which is slated to come out in September. Another advantage of these tablets is that some of them feature cameras and Flash support, which the iPad does not have.

The cons of Android Tablets

Because of certain restrictions of the Android OS, tablets using this platform can only have a screen size of 7 inches at the most. This means that the iPad will sti ll be much larger than any Android Tablet out in the market, even in the future, unless Google lifts or changes these restrictions. Also, Android Tablets haven't surpassed the iPad when it comes to battery life. This alone is a huge factor to consider.

So, who emerges victorious in the battle between the Androids and Apple? That fact still remains to be seen, as there are still a lot of Android Tablets that have yet to be released this year. And while we're all waiting for those release dates to come, the Apple iPad still owns the crown as the best tablet computer thus far.

5 Awesome iPhone Apps Redesigned for Android

In the apps department, the iPhone is currently leading over Android phones. To date, there are about 230,000 apps available in the Apple Store for the iPhone device. In comparison, there are some 70,000 apps for Android phones. These numbers are changing daily, as more and more apps are added to each group. But according to industry experts, at the rate that apps are now being produced, it is likely that by the middle of 2012, there will be more Android apps than iPhone or iOS apps (iOS is the operating platform for Apple products such as the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad).

One reason why Android apps will soon outnumber iOS apps is that, simply put, there is greater demand for Android apps. In the smart phone market, Android has the indisputable lead. More phone manufacturers have adopted the Android operating system, while the only smart phone that uses the iOS platform is still the iPhone only. HTC, Samsung and Motorola all use Android in their smart phones, and seven of their models has made it to the top ten list of the most popular smart phones in the U.S. today. With more phones and more people on the Android bandwagon, apps developers have their hands full creating more Android apps to satisfy the huge market demand.

Not surprisingly, some iPhone apps have been converted into Android versions and installed in fully functional mode in Android phones. As a result, a number of the most popular iPhone apps now have their Android counterparts. Below are five of the trendiest and most useful apps that can now be found in both iOS and Android devices:

1. Dropbox € This is a very helpful "cloud" service that allows users to store files and then sync them automatically across various gadgets or computers. With a Dropbox account€which comes free, by the way€a person can have easy access to files he saved on his Windows PC, iPad, iPhone or Mac computer. This is a perfect storage solution as well as an answer to file-syncing problems of people who use multiple computing devices.

2. EvernoteThis is a note-taking app that also employs "cloud-syncing" to update copies of important notes that a person may make and keep on multiple devices. Note-taking is an important function of smart phones (and indispensable at work), and with Evernote, a person always has access to all his notes no matter what device he has on hand.

3. Documents To GoThere is a free version of this document viewing and editing app for both iPhone and Android phones. The free app makes text and spreadsheet documents, similar to Word and Excel files. But it is not capable of making slideshows such as those in PowerPoint files. For those who want PowerPoint-like functionality, an upgrade to the full version is needed. This upgrade will also remove certain restrictions found in the free version.

4. Amazon KindleThis mobile app lets a person browse through the very well-stocked Kindle bookstore. The app also lets one purchase, download and then readbooks he has chosen.Thedownload time is quite fast, often taking less than a minute.

5. PandoraThis app is used to stream songs or audio files. The user can make his own playlist by searching for song titles or artist names.

The only thing left is to get confirmation of the specs, pricing, and a release date. What we do know is that it will be HTC’s first 10-inch tablet, have an 8MP camera, dual-LED Flash, and the above picture confirms support for a stylus (like the HTC Flyer).

There are rumors that it will have a Qualcomm dual-core 1.5GHz processor, Android Honeycomb, HTC Sense and a 4G radio. We will certainly let you know more as soon as we hear it.

CyanogenMod 7 testing for Motorola Atrix underway

The Motorola Atrix was the top of the Android foodchain at the beginning of the year being the first dual-core Android device released. Since then, you gotta wonder how it could be improved upon. How about giving it a software overhaul by way of CyanogenMod 7 for example? CyanogenMod is easily the most popular of any available Android ROMs out there, and for good reason. It’s offers add-ons and features that we only wish were built into the actual Android 2.3 code and left that way when we buy it.

Now that the bootloader has been unlocked for the Motorola Atrix (which was an uphill battle for a long time), there’s no stopping the amount of mods and ROMs that we’ll start seeing. Best of all, testing is underway as you read this to get CyanogenMod 7 onto the Motorola Atrix. No time has been given for its release, but we’re sure at the pace they have worked for many other devices, it shouldn’t be long before it’s up for download.

Stay tuned!

Verizon support mistakenly declares the Samsung Galaxy S II will have 4G LTE

A lot of people are going crazy because of the above tweet from Verizon support. The problem is that the person who tweeted it was most likely referring to the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

First off, the Verizon Galaxy S II will most likely not be called the Galaxy S II, and to solidify my argument that the Verizon rep made a mistake, here is another tweet that took place shortly after the original one. You clearly see the question refers to the Galaxy S II, but the answer comes back as the Tab 10.1 with a link to pre-order.

IMS Research Says Global Smartphones Sales Will Top 420 Million Devices in 2011

According to IMS Research, a leading independent supplier of market research, sales of smartphones will come in at over 420 million device by the end of this year .  This will account for roughly 28 percent of the handset market as the research shows.  According to the company, with the release of more and more “entry-level” smartphones, we could see one billion devices sell by 2016.

According to IMS, despite how well mobile sales are going, not all companies will ultimately benefit from the trend.  IMS uses LG as an example, pointing to the fact that though they were the third largest OEM world wide, they barely exhibited any innovation over the past several years, subsequently causing the company to reach less than three percent of the market share in 2010.

The same source also notes that Nokia took a hit so devastating (see chart) they went to bed with Microsoft for its Windows Phone operating system, abandoning its very own Symbian platform.  Sales for the company dropped 34 percent from last year.

In contrast to the above, the research firm goes on to note that Apple, in the midst of other companies on the decline, has benefited greatly during this time in the face of its competitors.  No doubt its popularity is due to its innovation and the functionality of a certain product’s name that escapes my mind at the moment.  But don’t worry, it will eventually come to me.  During the company’s second quarter in 2011 sales soared for more than 20 million handsets with signs only pointing to even greater success in the near future.  In addition, Samsung is also following in the foot steps of the Great Apple. demonstrating it too can play with the big boys in the midst of adversity.  The company increased sales from three percent in 1Q of 2010 to a whopping 13 percent in 1Q of 2011 thanks to its innovative handsets touting Android, Windows Mobile and its very own Bada operating system.  Add this to its impressive line of Galaxy S phones and it’s no wonder the company is on top at the moment.

The moral of the story is, stay ahead of the game when it comes to innovation and growth.  With strategic planning and  the right individuals in place, any company can thrust forward and be successful in the midst of a mobile market decline.  Any business man will tell you, innovation and meeting the needs of the consumer is the name of the game.

About IMS:

IMS Research examines and tracks quarterly handset and smartphone market shares in its Mobile Handset Market Intelligence Service & Database. A valuable tool for companies requiring 24/7 access to the most up-to-date information on the mobile market, this service also provides up-to-date information on cellular subscribers, handset shipments, and mobile handset feature penetration. Provided with the database access is the Quarterly Market report, which offers subscribers additional insight and analysis on recent developments in the mobile handset market.

Android Tablet PC or iPad – Which One Do You Like Better?

For those who think iPad is the best, make sure you finish reading the following Android Tablet vs iPad tablet comparison, for it might change your point of view.

I have no qualms in stating that iPad is the best tablet PC in the world. I also hold on to the fact that there isn't a brand bigger than Apple in terms of next-generation technology. However, have you noticed how quickly and efficiently are a slew of gadgets that belong to the Google Android clan, bucking up to potentially beat this Apple treatise? Yes! In an attempt to take on the tablet market, a few of the Android tablets PCs are paving their way to beat the Apple iPad. Nevertheless, if you've stocked up on your wallet, have settled on a decent budget, but are still tongue-tied over whi ch one to go for in the fight of the Google Android tablet vs Apple iPad, the following words attempt to ease your quandary. Here's a comprehensive Android Tablet vs iPad review for you to settle on, which could be the best touch-screen mini-laptop for you.

Android Tablet PC vs iPad: Touchscreen

Who would attempt to question the multi-touch functionality that the iPad provides? Certainly, a tablet PC isn't a tablet PC if it doesn't have a satisfactory touch-screen. The Samsung Galaxy Tab and Motorola Xoom have great touch-screen functionality, but they stand no chance to the top-notch quality that the iPad boasts upon. What's more, the exceptional 9.7 inch screen perfectly suffices all the requirements of a tablet. However, there are many Android tablets that do not offer a wide screen, thus, making it impossible for a user to navigate. Except for Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab, no other Android tablet is worthy enough of competing with the iPad in terms of display.

Android Tablet PC vs iPad: Comparison

You know, one of the very first points that I can think of in the much-heated Android market vs App Store comparison is, you could go for Google Android only and only if you have an inexplicable animosity towards Apple. Otherwise, I do not find a single reason on this earth that you think of switching over to Android. I mean to say, Android tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab, Motorola Xoom, and Dell Streak look promising enough, but aren't as efficient as iPad. There are a lot of points you may like to consider and a plethora of reasons to get an iPad and not an Android tablet, before squandering money. Here they are!

Android Tablet PC vs iPad: Market Hold

So, you have hots for Android. But how many others have the same? The whole idea behind including this point within the comparison is that, in today's market, when one talks tablet PCs, the Apple iPad is the very first tablet that strikes your mind. Google Android PC doesn't have similar hold on the market. Remember the brouhaha created by Apple prior to the launch of the iPad? This made the Apple tablet all the more famous. Android tablets are popular too, but not much in comparison to the iPad. Samsung Galaxy Tab does have a solid hold on the market though. But then, it is yet to make a place of its own in the market.

Android Tablet PC vs iPad: Operating System

You know, for once, you might get your heart melted for D ell Streak. However, its Android 1.6 OS disappoints big time. Simply put, when Android 2.2 OS is already in the market, who would squander money over a previous version of OS? Android 2.2 OS is a great competitor to Apple iPad's iOS4, and any tablet that doesn't offer Android 2.2 OS is not desirable at all.

Android Tablet vs iPad: Options

Well, Android lovers have a reason to smile here. You see, when we talk about tablet options, Apple has only the iPad to flaunt. However, Google is creating more and more tablet PCs with different OS and configurations to get a stronger hold on the market. But naturally, more the numbers, more the popularity. Consumers would definitely become happy with more tha n one option. Don't you think so?

Android Tablet vs iPad: Brand Name

You know, for a while, it might just strike you that Google is better off with software through advertising. Hardware, even though it is its oyster, doesn't seem to interest Google much. On the other hand, Apple, with its authority over the tablet market, and comparatively more number of iPad lovers in the world, has an edge because of its brand name. In order to become equally successful, Google Android has to be persistent enough, and create similar hype to gain authority over the tablet PC market.

I'd like to include yet another point to this interesting Android tablet vs iPad comparison, which targets the avai lability of 3G network in both the devices. One factor where some of the best Android tablets could defeat iPad is that since iPad's 3G works only with AT&T, many consumers hate to pay for AT&T for its spotty 3G coverage. On the other hand, tablets that are Android-based could capitalize on working with the 3G network facilitated by Verizon. What's more, cost of both Android tablets and the Apple iPad (Discount iPad Accessories) is similar, and hence, money shouldn't be an issue. But then, if you're still wondering which one to buy, one last piece of advice would be the fact that, while Android market is still struggling hard to sway users away with its technology, Apple doesn't need to prove its mettle for it has already rocked its fans with its killer featu res and beautiful gadgets. In the end, it's just upon you to choose. The Apple iPad is my recommendation
